Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also referred to as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 pounds. Despite being large and sturdy, these industrial machinery still carry the possible risk of accident or crash. In order to be safe, be sure to have operators wear the correct seat belt inside the forklift and make sure that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that in case of an accident, seat belts can save lives.
Three-Point Seat Belt
Three-point seat belts can extend across the upper body and over the lap. These belts offer an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are available in both bucket-seat and bench-seat types. The 3-point seat belts are available in either retractable and non-retractable kinds.
Retractable seat belts are usually utilized in the majority of modern vehicles on the market. While non-retractable styles increase safety, retractable styles provide more comfort. It is impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to extend accidentally.
Lap belts
The kind of seat belt that only extends over the lower part of the body is a two-point lap belt. Most lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. In order to secure the seat belt, just press on the belt button and the two sides would separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the kind which force forklift operators to put on a seat belt. These kinds of seat belts have a micro-switch attached that enables an alarm to sound if an operator starts a vehicle and is unsecured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both retractable and non-retractable lap-band types.
