Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are among the most commonly used kinds of crane in the construction business. They are utilized to make everything from roadways and freeway overpasses to buildings and skyscrapers.
Cranes come in a wide range of models, styles and sizes. These different models allow the operators and owners to carry out many more functions within their industry. Choosing the best kind of crane is really crucial for making sure that the material could be safely and efficiently transported to the place it has to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Normally, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are extremely helpful for building locations where a crane is required in many different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being easily driven from one location to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction locations on the road as they drive themselves, that eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
One disadvantage of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Hence, in order to fix this problem, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
Crawler cranes feature large tracks on the base of the crane. These huge tracks are similar to the ones seen on other construction machinery such as backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
