Counterbalance Forklift Training Courses
Anybody who uses a counterbalanced lift truck is required to receive training, according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. Training consists of a combination of hands-on driver training and classroom training. Refresher training is needed periodically in order to keep driver skills up to date. OSHA does not indicate a required minimum time for either the hands-on or classroom training.

Counterbalanced Forklifts
The counterbalance forklift could balance its cargo thanks to a counterbalance built into the truck. Blades could move down and up parallel to the truck's body. The tines do not pivot. Operators driving counterbalanced forklifts should have training on the particular lift trucks they will be driving and in a similar workplace surroundings.

Classroom Training
In classroom training, the forklift driver would learn about the model he or she will be using. Information consists of specifications such as height, weight and load capacity. The operator would be taught the basics of charging or fueling the lift truck, which depends on whether the engine is battery-powered or gas-powered. Safety information regarding the specific forklift, such as how to walk safely around the lift truck, would be covered.

Supervised Driving
Driver training will be supervised to make certain that the operator would know how to correctly utilize the counterbalance lift truck. This practical training program would happen in the same type of environment wherein the operator would be working. The operator would train on the same type of terrain with the same sorts of surrounding buildings and other structures, as well as the same vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Refresher Training
Counterbalance lift truck drivers are required by OSHA to take a periodic refresher training course. Nonetheless, there are no specifications as to the frequency at which a driver needs this training. However, for regular operators, refresher training should incorporate classroom-style training.
